ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING - VOCATIONAL ENGLISH

Full and Part-time Programme as appropriate

Level: Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate

VOC2: Level 1 and 2 English Language credits

VOC3: Level 2 and 3 English Language credits

This course will enable you to develop your community language, knowledge and skills. It is an excellent preparation for actively participating in New Zealand life as well as preparing for a job or academic study.

Course Components:

  • Speak with fluency when communicating
  • Gain essential skills and strategies for using vocabulary and grammatical structures
  • Apply strategies and skills to understand and use English for a variety of real-life purposes



Course Overview

Term 1
Students can write descriptions of people using correct verb forms and connectives.
Students can read and respond to current events.
Students can listen for gist and specific information using a variety of techniques (keywords, synonyms, examples, listening around the keywords, selective listening, etc.)
Students can complete a form accurately.
Students can locate specific information in a text.
Students can engage in a sustained conversation in a known context.
Students can talk about a topic familiar to them in a structured manner for a sustained period of time.
