Course Description

12/13 Fitness Studies 

In this course you will improve your understanding and application of a variety of methods of training to improve sporting performance. 

Course Components 

  • Implement a personal exercise plan with a weights room component
  • Improve cardiovascular endurance and performance in a 4 or 8km run
  • Learn and apply biophysical principles to a training programme to improve performance

  • Understand different methods such as cardiovascular, resistance, hybrid.


Course Overview

Semester 1
Introduce resistance training emphasising technique and design targeting personal goals
Engage in a cardiovascular endurance training programme working towards a 4km or 8km run
Participate in circuit and interval training to improve fitness components
Understand human anatomy and physiological responses as it relates to exercise

Possible credits:
Internal: 16 Level 3 credits (12 unit standard and 4 achievement standard)
