English Language Learning (ELL) 'Community English' provides you with opportunities to learn English for living, working and studying in New Zealand.
Learning English will help you develop language and skills to improve your confidence, participate in your community and prepare you for a job and/or study.

Term 1
Students know the alphabet and can confidently name and sound out each letter, read high-frequency words, common sight words and more complex phonics rules and patterns. (DC)
Students can give personal information in an English language version of a pepeha and listen to identify detail and gist. (JNS)
Getting to know you, your class and New Zealand. (SMC)
Students can converse on everyday topics. (SMC)
Students learn about each other’s culture and country and become confident in free conversation. (KN)
ELL unit standards contribute to the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (NZCEL)and NCEA (Level 1 credits - Foundation & Level 1)
