13 Financial Life Skills

This course will provide you with a good understanding of financial literacy and how your own personal finances can affect your life. It will teach you about budgeting and managing money, and how significant events can impact this. We explore the themes of managing money and income, setting financial goals, and managing financial risk.

Course Overview

Term 1
In Term 1, students will be learning about different ways they can increase their personal income.
US28098 - Evaluate options to increase personal income, 3 credits.

Term 2
In Term 2, students will be learning about credit options and how they can use debt management strategies to manage their personal finances, and how to use goal-setting and a budget to achieve financial goals.
US28099 - Evaluate credit options and select debt management strategies to manage personal finances, 3 credits.
US28100 - Develop a plan to show how a budget contributes to achieving a long-term personal financial goal, 4 credits.

Term 3
In Term 3, students will learn the process for buying their first house, and how to evaluate savings and investment options.
US28103 - Analyse and select personal financing options for purchasing a property, 4 credits.
US28101 - Evaluate savings and investment options and make a plan to create a long-term personal investment portfolio, 4 credits.
