13 Earth and Space Science

This course builds on knowledge from the previous year and focuses on more complicated Earth systems, such as atmospheric circulation and ocean currents. We'll relate these systems to observable daily phenomena. This course can lead on to tertiary science study in geology, astronomy or physics.

Course Components

  • Geological evidence and dating geological events
  • Systems affecting oceans and atmosphere
  • Astronomical exo-planet detection methods
  • Explore an ocean systems topic that affects society

Course Overview

Term 1
Complete an internal investigation of the evidence related to dating geological events.

Term 2
Demonstrate understanding of processes in the atmosphere system for an external exam and complete an investigation of an aspect of astronomy for an internal assessment.

Term 3
Learn about processes in the ocean system for an external exam.

Term 4
Revision and external exams.
