SEMESTER ONE COURSE

Consider a historical event in detail and explore different perspectives related to that event. Build your skills as a historian: reading and analysing historical sources, writing historical generalisations with evidence.

 

Potential Topics:

  • The 1954 Parker-Hulme murder
  • World War 2: The Māori Battalion at Cassino
  • Hone Heke, the Flagpole and the Northern War 1845-6
  • Abortion law reform in NZ
  • LBGTQIA+ life in NZ

This course is split into two semesters: students can take just one course or both.

 


Course Overview

Term 1
Term 1 will we look explore an event during the Vietnam War and look at the psychological effects on the soldiers and how that impacted their behaviour on and off the battlefield.

Term 2
Term 2 will we be writing up our 10 credit report from what we learnt about in the first term.
