Course Description

Open Entry. Students limited to one Visual Arts subject ONLY at Level 1.


11 Art

Expand your skills in drawing, painting and printmaking as you develop your own artworks.

 Course Components

  • Develop practical skills in different art-making techniques
  • Learn and be inspired by a range of New Zealand artists
  • Explore ideas from initial first drawings to make your own completed artworks
  • Produce your own portfolio of art works



Course Overview

Term 1
Week 1: Intro to course

Week 2: Drawing skills, identity study and drawings.

Week 3: Introduction to Kelcy Taratoa and artists study project

Week 4: Finishing Kelcy Taratoa artists study, Gallery visit.

Week 5: Beginning 1.1 research.

Week 6: Field trip around the city working on 1.1

Week 7: Victoria Square, Working on 1.1

Week 8-10: Working on the 1.1 research standard.

Term 2
Week 1: Finalizing and 1.1 hand in (2nd May)

Week 2-10: working on 1.3 workbook internal.

Term 3
Week 1: Finalizing and 1.3 hand in (25th July)

Week 2 – 8: working on the 1.4 Art Board

Week 9 – Finalizing and 1.4 hand in (19th September)

Week 10: Beginning 1.2 finished artwork.

Term 4
Week 1: Working on 1.2

Week 2: Handing in 1.2 (24th October)

OFFICAL NZQA CUT OFF DATES 18th October for all externals
