ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING - STUDYING AT HIGH SCHOOL

Full-time Programme for Young Adolescents and adults who are under 25

ELL1 – Foundation and Level 1 English Language credits

ELL2 - Level 1 and Level 2 English Language credits

Develop skills in English as well as gain NCEA credits. In a supportive environment, you will develop knowledge and skills for success at high school, your chosen career or academic study.

  • Build confidence and skills in English using speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • Study Math, Science and Health, Physical Education

Course Overview

Term 1
Students can read and write practical texts including careers, NZ wildlife, and emergencies.
Students can read a variety of texts independently and respond to them.
Students can accurately complete a form.
Students can read and write about a topic familiar to them.

Term 2
Students can read and write practical texts including careers, emergencies, and thank you letters.
Students can listen to instructions.
Students can read and respond to texts.
Students can read and understand a straightforward text.
Students can accurately complete a form, and answer a relevant question with 3 sentences.
Students can present a topic familiar to them.

Term 3
Students can write recounts.
Students can listen to information and answer questions.
Students can speak about a topic in an applied context.
Students can listen to simple instructions and complete everyday tasks.

Assessment Information

ELL unit standards contribute to the New Zealand Certificate in English Language and NCEA and Numeracy & Literacy skills.
