12 Business Studies
Business for beginners: get started on your pathway to business success and gain real world entrepreneurial experience. Students will develop an understanding of issues affecting a business and apply this through case studies and real life examples.
Course Components:
- Gain practical experience in operating a business as part of a group, creating a product, and selling it
- Develop creative thinking and problem solving skills
- Investigate how businesses motivate their staff, and look at this firsthand when visiting a local business
- Apply business knowledge to a critical problem in a large business context
Course Overview
Term 1
Throughout Term 1 and Term 2 students will be writing a business plan and running a business in a group. The first sales day will be at the end of Term 1.
Term 2
Throughout Term 1 and Term 2 students will be writing a business plan and running a businesses in a group. The second sales day will be part-way through Term 2.

AS90848 - Carry out, review and refine a business activity within a community context with guidance, 9 credits.
Term 3
In Term 3 we will investigate how businesses motivate their staff, and look at this firsthand when visiting a local business.
AS90847 - Investigate the application of motivation theory in a business, 3 credits.
Term 4
AS90845 - Apply business knowledge to a critical problem(s) in a given large business context, 4 credits.
