Course Description

11 Science
This course encourages you to build on what you learned in junior science, and is to prepare for specialised science courses in senior school. The course is a pathway into Level 2 Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Earth and Space Science.
Course Components
- Develop the key skills of working as a scientist
- Understand a science-informed response to a local issue
- Carry out a range of scientific investigative approaches
- Learn how scientists develop science ideas
- Investigate science-related claims
Course Overview
Term 1
Sports Science. Students will investigate the physics of sports and complete a 5-credit internal assessment S1.2 by completing a portfolio of sports science investigations.
Term 2
Plastic Fantastic. Students will prepare for the S1.3 exam by learning about the development of chemistry and technology around plastic.
Health Science. Students will complete a 5-credit internal for S1.1 by completing a report on a science-informed response to HPV.
Term 3
Birds are Dinosaurs. Students prepare for the S1.3 exam by learning about the development of science ideas of evolution. Students will also write a report for the S1.4 external by unpacking the science claims in communicated information.
Term 4
Students will prepare for the S1.3 exam on development of a science idea.
