ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING - VOCATIONAL ENGLISH
Full and Part-time Programme as appropriate
Level: Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate
VOC2: Level 1 and 2 English Language credits
VOC3: Level 2 and 3 English Language credits
This course will enable you to develop your community language, knowledge and skills. It is an excellent preparation for actively participating in New Zealand life as well as preparing for a job or academic study.
Course Components:
- Speak with fluency when communicating
- Gain essential skills and strategies for using vocabulary and grammatical structures
- Apply strategies and skills to understand and use English for a variety of real-life purposes
Course Overview
Term 1
Students can correctly fill out a form with personal information.
Students can confidently read a simple text on a familiar topic and answer comprehension questions.
Students can read and write about daily and weekly activities.
Students use the sequence of events to identify the meaning of a text and the main idea in a written text.
Students can write letters and emails for a real-world purpose and context.
Students can read, interpret and understand text used in advertising.
Term 2
Students can make a request or articulate a problem they are having, without using a script.
Students understand how to prepare and give a basic presentation of 2 – 3 mins on a familiar topic.
Students understand the relationship between purpose and audience when speaking.
Students will work on recount writing and using past tense correctly.
Students can write letters and emails for a real-world purpose and context.
Students can read and write about driving in NZ.
Students can correctly fill out a form with personal information and a written paragraph answer.
