12 Design
In this course you will combine creativity with digital technology to communicate ideas using image and text.
Course Components
- Learn to understand the design process
- Analyse and reconstruct examples of good design practice
- Develop your skills in Adobe Photoshop
- Apply techniques learned to your own work
Course Overview
Term 1
Intro to course - Course overview, student accounts, distribute course materials, file management. History of design, learning key conventions. Introduction to digital studio, Photoshop basics. 2 weeks
Drawing tasks – Generating imagery and drawing tasks. 2 weeks
Research assessment – 2.1 research assessment on established practice. 6 weeks Due 6th of April
Term 2
Drawing internal assessment – Second internal assessment, drawing and generating ideas for a theme, and designing logos. 7 Weeks Due 9th of June
Posters – Posters are constructed through developing, analysing and clarifying ideas. These posters also contribute toward our portfolio task. 3 weeks
Term 3
Posters continued – Posters are constructed through developing, analysing and clarifying ideas. These contribute toward the portfolio task. 2 weeks
Booklet/Double Page Spread – Ideas for double page spreads and covers for booklets are systematically developed to appropriate outcomes. These contribute to our 2.3 assessment as well as our portfolio task. 5 weeks
Infographic– Produce infographics that communicate key ideas from our theme for the portfolio. 3 weeks
Term 4
Folio and internal standard completion (12 credits) - final folio submission due end of Week Three, due 27th of October. Internals finished by end of Week Four. 4 weeks Due 3rd of November
