13 Business Studies
Build the young entrepreneur in you! This course gives you a broad understanding and practical experience of running your own business.
Course Components
- You work in groups to form a company, undertake market research, produce a business plan, present a pitch on your business idea and sell your goods or service
- There is the opportunity to take part in the Young Enterprise Scheme
- As a budding entrepreneur, you will have the chance to make money while still at school
- Develop skills such as problem-solving, co-operation, decision- making, negotiation, and communication
- There is the option to explore some major NZ businesses and government organisations and their effect on the economy
Course Overview
Term 1
Teamwork and ideation that leads to a brand creation through the nationwide Young Enterprise Scheme.
In Term 1, students will form groups, come up with a product idea, validate their product, and begin the production process. They will also being writing their business plan.
Term 2
A.S. 91382 v2 Business Studies 3.4 - Develop a marketing plan for a new or existing product, 4 Credits, 31 May
In Term 2, students will create a marketin plan in their business groups, and begin selling their product.
Term 3
U.S. 9681 v8 Contribute within a team or group which has an objective, 3 credits, 13 September
A.S. 91384 v2 Business Studies 3.6 - Carry out, with consultation, an innovative and sustainable business activity, 27 September, 9 credits.
In Term 3, students will continue selling their product, finish their business plan, and review how their year running their business has gone.
