Course Description

Teacher in Charge:

This course builds upon the Level 2 Hard Materials course. It is project based and includes the use of a CAD programme to design a new product to use with CAM machinery.

  • Research existing products to inform your decision about new products
  • Explore the use of CAM
  • Create a Flat pack product
  • Expand on your knowledge of tools and materials
  • Pathway to University -  Product Design
  • Hands on approach to learning using Level 3 Achievements Standards

Course Overview

Term 1
Wood working skills & design research for US 29684 & 29679. To be approved before starting in term 2.

Term 2
Start of construction process for approved BCATS design. Continuation of research documentation.

Term 3
Construction process for approved BCATS design. Continuation of research documentation.

Term 4
Completion of both standards by end of first week in term 4

Successful completion of the level 2 Hard Materials course or TIC approval
