11 Hard Materials
To offer students the opportunity to gain experience about the use of tools to design and construct an item of personal interest based on the BCITO programme.
Course Components
- Become proficient in the design process to aid planning and execution
- To construct personalised projects
- Hands on approach to learning backed up with BCITO Level 1 Unit Standards
- Use a wide range of tools and equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
Course Overview
Term 1
Basic wood and joint skills. Health & safety in the workshop.
Term 2
Start BCATS project in combination with health & safety in practice & the use of joints & hardware / fasteners . To be assessed in the BCATS project.
Term 3
Personal design project with joints & fasteners.
Term 4
Completion of all projects.
