12 Film Studies
In this course you will build knowledge and understanding of film through the study of a genre, and a topic of film theory. You will also write a screenplay and plan and produce your own short film product, which you will also film and edit using digital cameras and Adobe Premiere Pro.

Course Overview
Term 1
In term 1 we will select the genre we will study throughout the year towards the external - which will be assessed in term 3 (practice exams) and term 4 external exams (91251 Demonstrate understanding of an aspect of a media genre 4 credits).
Students will begin the process of designing their own film product and will complete a design and plan (91252 Produce a design and plan for a developed media product using a range of conventions 4 credits).
Term 2
This term, students will write a screenplay for their film (91255 Write developed media text for a specific target audience, 3 credits) and begin rehearsals and filming. They will also complete an essay topic on the representation of a group in media (91250 Demonstrate understanding of representation in the media 3 credits).
Term 3
Students will complete their film products (91253 Complete a developed media product from a design and plan using a range of conventions 6 credits) and sit the practice exam (91251 Demonstrate understanding of an aspect of a media genre 4 credits).
Term 4
Students will engage in revision study towards the final exam (91251 Demonstrate understanding of an aspect of a media genre 4 credits) and complete any outstanding assessment tasks or resubmissions needed to complete the course work.
